Whisper
End-to-end encrypted messaging the server can't read — even with the backups.
Whisper conversations open on a lock: nothing decrypts until you enter your passphrase in your browser. Messages are encrypted client-side with X25519 (nacl.box) — the server stores and relays ciphertext only.
Your secret key is wrapped with Argon2id and stored as opaque ciphertext: zero-knowledge key escrow. A one-time 128-bit recovery code is the only way back if you lose the passphrase. Lose both, and the messages are gone — by design, not by accident.
- Client-side X25519 encryption — the same class of design as Signal
- Argon2id-wrapped, zero-knowledge key escrow
- One-time 128-bit recovery code, shown once
- Recipients come from your connections — no phone numbers to trade
- The server never sees your passphrase or your keys

It's connected
Whisper runs on the same identity, audience and storage as everything else in the suite — which is why it does things standalone tools can't: your content shows up on your public profile, your calendar links to your meetings, your compose pulls from your contacts.
